About
AeRyon Kim received her Ph.D. in Immunology from Johns Hopkins University, followed by postdoctoral training focused on elucidating the molecular mechanisms of MHC class II antigen processing and CD4 T cell epitope selection. She subsequently joined the Inflammation and Oncology Research Department at Amgen, where she worked on identifying novel immunological targets for cancer immunotherapy. In 2023, she became a Senior Scientist in Dr. Bullock’s laboratory at the University of Virginia. Her current research investigates how non-invasive Focused Ultrasound therapy reshapes the tumor microenvironment to boost anti-tumor immunity, particularly when combined with strategies targeting immunosuppressive tumor-associated macrophages. She also collaborates with Dr. Sheybani lab to study the characteristics and functional roles of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) following focused ultrasound ablation of spontaneous soft tissue sarcomas in canine models. Outside the lab, she enjoys hiking and watching movies.
