Clinical Trials

The Sheybani Lab is proud to work in close alignment with UVA’s broader

focused ultrasound translational enterprise.
Below is a list of clinical trials with which we are currently engaged.

Sonodynamic Therapy in Patients With Recurrent GBM (GBM-001)

Pilot study of sonodynamic therapy with 5-ALA for the treatment of recurrent glioblastoma using neuronavigation-guided low-intensity focused ultrasound.

Shayan Moosa, MD, University of Virginia

Focused Ultrasound and Gemcitabine in Breast Cancer (Breast-54)

Evaluation of the combinatory effect of focused ultrasound (FUS) + low dosage of gemcitabine (GEM) in patients with early-stage breast cancer.

Patrick Dillon, MD, University of Virginia

Focused Ultrasound and Pembrolizumab in Metastatic Breast Cancer (Breast-48)

Evaluation of the combinatory effect of high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) and pembrolizumab in patients with metastatic breast cancer.

Patrick Dillon, MD, University of Virginia

Focused Ultrasound Ablation and PD-1 Antibody Blockade in Advanced Solid Tumors (AM-003)

Evaluation of the combinatory effect of focused ultrasound (FUS), PD1 blockade, and/or imiquimod in solid tumors.

Craig Slingluff, MD & Lynn Dengel, MD, University of Virginia

Study of Low-Intensity Focused Ultrasound in Combination With Immunotherapy in Newly Diagnosed Unmethylated Glioblastoma (BATs FUS)

Phase I study of safety and feasibility of combining FUS BBB opening and EGFR BATs. This study will also examine access of the adoptive cell immunotherapy to the GBM microenvironment via immunoPET imaging.

Camilo Fadul, MD, University of Virginia
