About
Khondamir is a second-year PhD student in the Neuroscience Graduate Program. He graduated from Grinnell College with a B.A. in Biological Chemistry and a Concentration in Neuroscience with honors. While at Grinnell, Khondamir studied the initiation of presynaptic homeostatic potentiation at the neuromuscular junction. He then pursued a post-baccalaureate fellowship at the University of Florida, where he investigated alpha-synuclein proteostasis in Parkinson’s Disease. His research in the Sheybani lab is centered around the modulation of the tumor immune microenvironment in immunocompetent mouse models for primary brain cancers. He is particularly excited to explore the interplay between the myeloid compartment and the endogenous lymphoid populations upon FUS-enhanced delivery of immunotherapies. Outside of lab, Khondamir enjoys weightlifting, gymnastics, dance, and Dungeons and Dragons.
